5 Things I’ve Learned As A Movement & Nervous System Coach

Share this article with your friends and family

My first podcast for 2025! There are so many things that I have learned from being in coach with a focus on the nervous system. In this episode, I pick five things that spring to mind as ‘standouts’; things you may not have considered or fully understood previously when it comes to being in the world, working with horses and your nervous system health.

We talk about:

1. Why there is nothing wrong with being in fight flight. What we are ultimately seeking is “appropriate responsiveness”, a nervous system that is accurately responding to the reality of the moment.

2. Why calm is not the goal

3. Why we need to take care not to use meditation, breath and mindfulness practices as another substitute for control.

4. The necessity of adaptability within the sympathetic system and why you want to be able to access the full spectrum of fight flight.

5. How our dominant western culture doesn’t support a healthy nervous system state and what it is you need to thrive.
