“I wouldn’t hesitate in highly recommending Jane to anyone who wants to improve the outlook in any area their riding life or a helping hand turning their goals into reality.”
I first started working with Jane near the end of 2014 after a few things in my life had been derailed and I was finding if difficult to get back on track. Things just wouldn’t fall into place. After meeting Jane for the first time I was left feeling totally intrigued and inspired. 5 months later I have gone from fluffing along on a wing and a prayer to having a vision of what I want and a plan of how I’m going to get there. Jane has helped me in creating clarity.
I’ve learnt a huge amount working with Jane, all of which have been hugely beneficial in my day to day life and competition career. Since working with Jane I have come to the realisation that so many great things have come from that string of ‘bad’ events.
I genuinely love working with Jane! She is so easy to talk to and her incredible passion for helping others shines through in enthusiasm and positivity. Jane supplies the perfect combination of challenge and reward while providing a solid sounding board with neutral non-judgmental support. I’m grateful to Jane for the skills I now have to fall back on and implement throughout my riding career.
I wouldn’t hesitate in highly recommending her to anyone who wants to improve the outlook in any area their riding life or a helping hand turning their goals into reality.”Abby Lawrence
“We are lucky to have Jane be part of our approach to winning.”
Jane worked with my clients during a Showjumping Camp I ran last year. She did an amazing job of making everyone comfortable and was so approachable. She provided us with a very straightforward, logical approach to dealing with how our minds affect our abilities as riders. Her advice was ” real ” and easily applicable. Many skeptics happily changed their views!
This year, when I asked my clients who they wanted as speakers, a large majority asked for Jane to return. We are lucky to have Jane be part of our approach to winning. – Jill Ullrich (Jill Ullrich ShowJumping)Jill Ullrich
“Coaching from Jane has taught me the skills to visualise your desired outcome align your beliefs with your goal and have an action plan to achieve your goal.”
As a Dressage Rider, my focus was always on lessons and horse management but little thought was given to my mindset. Coaching from Jane at My Equicoach has been a real eye opener to me about what is actually going on in my mind. I never paid much attention to what I was thinking, believing or saying to myself. Coaching from Jane has taught me the skills to Visualise your desired outcome align your beliefs with your Goal and have an action plan to achieve your goal.
My Mum noticed a huge difference in me within a few weeks and decided to join too. We do something a little different with Jane and have tailored our coaching to meet our joint goals. The resources in the Academy have exceeded my expectations. Jane is a positive inspiring woman who we love working with.Chanel Flyger
“If you are looking for the missing link in your riding- whether it be improving competition success or gaining confidence- Jane is it.” Working with Jane has meant learning a phenomenal amount and it is really changing my life. Everything is easy to understand and the step by step processes she provides you with make it easy to change our daily habits and mindset. My mindset has been something that I have always struggled with and although I am still working on it, I believe that I am a much more positive person, both in horses and in life, due to working with Jane and the range of support she provides. It has been the most incredible experience and I am so excited about the season ahead- I have clear goals, a positive mindset and a plan of action! Jane has given me the tools and strategies to remain motivated, focused and positive in my riding and my life. ~ Nicki KleveringNicki Klevering
“If you are sitting on the fence, I would say do it! Mindset is like a secret weapon, a way of working smarter (not harder) for exponential results!”
I began working with Jane as I wanted to make the transition from Training level Horse Trials to begincompeting at Pre Novice level horse trials. My experience has been supportive, educational, inspirational. I feel more empowered to make my own decisions about my horse, my riding and competing. I thought my biggest challenge was fear but now believe it is focus and this is a much easier and positive focus.
This work positively impacts other areas of my life such as work and I feel much happier in general. In my riding, I am experiencing accelerated progress, an understanding of what I have done to make progress and being able to replicate that, goal achievement. – Katrina StephensonKatrina Stephenson
I decided to work with Jane last year as I was struggling with competition anxiety. This meant that I had trouble staying relaxed as well as being able to remember my tests and keep my concentration at competitions. Through the academy and the personal help of Jane I have been able to completely overcome this and I now go to competitions relaxed. Jane has helped me to create lots of strategies to help if any anxiety crops up. I have seen a huge improvement in my riding at competitions- when I attended the NZ National Young Rider Dressage Championships recently (a competition I have previously attended and been very nervous at) I won Champion Level 1 Hack! This was largely due to remaining relaxed and performing consistently on both days of the competition. I have also started jumping bigger recently after previously having a huge fear of jumping, which is also mostly due to the skills I’ve learned as part of the Academy. I would fully recommend Jane and the Academy to anyone who is struggling with anxiety as it equips you with a number of tools and makes things that previously seemed impossible achievable.Nicole Sweney
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jane to all riders, from all walks of life, with any goals and/or fears no matter how large or small.”
18 months ago my riding hit rock bottom. In all other aspects of my life I was successful, in control and happy. I am a veterinarian, had a good job, a supportive family, and a gorgeous son. I had just given up on a particularly difficult horse and felt like I was never going to jump any higher than 80cm ever again! I felt like the world was watching my every failure, and judging my every ride.
Jane’s coaching has enabled me to better plan my life around my riding goals. It has put the joy back in my riding and reminded me that I ride for fun. I already have a job; I don’t need my riding to feel one as well. Jane provides a no nonsense approach to take control of your whole life, not just your equestrian life.
Jane’s enthusiasm and bubbly personality is reflected in the course content. She is inspiring, and a joy to listen to, and be around. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jane to all riders, from all walks of life, with any goals and/or fears no matter how large or small. I look forward to continuing to work with Jane over the following months and years with emphasis on learning how to tap in to my inner superstar to quash competition day nerves, and to brush off negative vibes from other people. – Hayley ShawHayley Shaw
“I can see my path to success now, and even my idea of success has changed, its no longer reliant on others opinions, just on how i feel i have measured up against myself now. My riding future not only feels successful but calm, relaxed and most importantly 100% enjoyable. “
Before working with Jane, I had become stagnant and unmotivated. I was also nervous to ride one of my horses, spending hours working with them and not really getting any where. I have a dream of competing in dressage and becoming a great horsewoman. I needed something to help me focus, motivate me, and create a positive enviroment for me to work in.
Working with Jane has been life changing. Having the tools at hand to set goals that keep me focused and motivated is the biggest part that has turned my riding right around. Having a plan and knowing how to stick to it, learning to be accountable but flexible. Learning tools to be relaxed and calm when competing just everything we have learnt has been well thought out and perfectly timed. I am no longer stressed and anxious about riding; I look forward to everyday with my horses and can not get enough. ~ Maria Elfstrom
“Jane has managed to entirely give me back my ‘riding freedom’ in the last four months – that speaks for itself as to how brilliant Jane’s coaching is!”
In January 2014 I had a bad riding accident resulting in 2 broken arms. Although I was back out competing, 11 weeks after the accident I struggled to trust my horse, to find enjoyment in my riding and also with a lack of motivation. I heard Jane speaking at a clinic in August and tucked EquiCoach into the back of my thoughts.
By October I’d sold my horse and brought a young mare who I specifically wanted to bring on for dressage. Despite having fortnightly lessons, there was always a nagging, sickening feeling when it came time to tackle her canter (or lack of). Eventually I contacted Jane and was beyond relieved that she understood what I was going through and that believed she could help. I started working with Jane in December and at the time felt the goals I set as part of preparing for the coaching were almost unachievable. Within just a couple of months of working with Jane I had well and truly achieved these goals.
I have found that Jane’s techniques and the tools she provides are unbelievably simple to fit into everyday life and ridden work. She is also very quick to adapt her approach, techniques and suggestions as required, especially as you progress through your goals. Jane really listened to my needs and concerns as a rider and, being a rider herself, was able to relate to my issues, which I found very beneficial to the process.
I absolutely would not hesitate to recommend Jane and the EquiCoach coaching programs. I believe that EquiCoach is suitable not only for nervous riders who want to become more confident but also those who are stuck in a rut or who are struggling to achieve a specific goal. Jane has managed to entirely give me back my ‘riding freedom’ in the last four months – that speaks for itself as to how brilliant Jane’s coaching is!

“I said to Jane before we started that she would be doing really well if she could change my negativity as I have always had a “glass half empty” attitude all my life. I can’t believe how much that has turned around in such a short time.”
I first ‘met’ Jane when she did a live question and answer session through the ESNZ Coaching page. She was answering exactly the issues I was having at the time – anxiety, fear, negative feelings, feeling like I was going backwards in my riding. In fact I had hit rock bottom as far as my riding was concerned and I was actually too scared to get on my horse – I have ridden for 40 years and never experienced these feelings before. Sure the horse had a few issues but the anxiety I was feeling was far out of proportion to the issues the horse was giving.
This was impacting other aspects of my life as well. I left my job, I didn’t feel like I was coping that well. I had no sense of purpose or direction and I really needed help.
I emailed Jane in a desperate cry for help.
After only a few sessions… Wow, I am feeling so much more in control and much more upbeat. I am already back on my horse and while there is still work needed here, I feel safer and Jane has given me links and contacts which is making a huge difference in the way I am approaching his work.
I have just been offered another short-term job that I would seriously not have considered applying for BJ (before Jane). And I am happier and in a much more positive mindset. People I meet out shopping are having conversations with me – before, I was shutting them out. I am more open to my friends and family who are also appreciating it.
Getting to this good place has required sticking to my homework and exercises that are suggested by Jane which I have stuck to every day. The sessions are geared towards what I need / want personally, so it is all relevant to what I am needing right now.
I said to Jane before we started that she would be doing really well if she could change my negativity as I have always had a “glass half empty” attitude all my life. I can’t believe how much that has turned around in such a short time. I am so grateful for her help and really looking forward to continuing with her coaching sessions.NK
I was lucky enough to meet Jane in June last year. I attended one of her courses and Wow! it was a light bulb moment! I have had a few injuries over the years and was having issues with straightness and pain because of them. Jane is the only person to have listened to my issues and provided solutions. While it is still going to be a long journey, it is a rewarding one for me and my horses.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Jane and EquiCoach to anyone wanting to improve their horses and their own wellbeing. My team of horses and I cannot thank Jane enough.

“There was a time when the judges were telling us to sort it out or we would get disqualified, but with your guidance I made the arena her safe place.”
Now that the rodeo circuit has come to an end, I just wanted to say thank you for the guidance and help. The breathing exercises really helps me stay calm and keep my nerves under wraps. TC is highly sensitive, and we really struggled to get over her arena anxiety. There was a time when the judges were telling us to sort it out or we would get disqualified, but with your guidance I made the arena her safe place. By controlling my body and breathing, she now walks in calmly.
It is something I still have to work on, but it is a great feeling having a horse that is 100% focused on me.Casey Kennett
“Thank you Jane, for not only helping me to build my self-confidence but for coaching me through a process that has offered me a whole new relationship with my new horse.”
Having not ridden since starting my family 12 years ago and after the loss of my first horse since returning to riding, it all seemed impossible.
After having 3 children I doubted my physical capabilities and my fears around my ability in the saddle were crippling as a result of this.
With a personalized coaching package, Jane has helped me decipher what realistically I needed to work on and what to disregard as anxiety that had gone unchallenged for years.
Thank you Jane, for not only helping me to build my self-confidence but for coaching me through a process that has offered me a whole new relationship with my new horse.
I am now looking forward. Even a small step in the right direction is success.Emma Stevenson
